Drawing attention to your work

Why Illustration

I’ve always admired how political cartoonists can capture an event or a narrative in a single frame. As an academic-turned-illustrator, I use that same approach to make research output more accessible.

Finds the story.

A drawing surfaces the human angle behind statistics and models.

Anchors ideas.

A visual hook helps your research message land and ensures concepts stick longer than text alone.

Broadens who gets it.

A simple, editorial-style image gives non-experts an entry point into technical or sensitive topics.

“We were very impressed with the work Ashleigh did for us in creating excellent and engaging cartoons for placement at the beginning of one of our bestselling Economics books.”

I work with:

Hi, I'm Ashleigh

  • Academic grounding. With a PhD in Finance and a Law degree, I'm comfortable across a wide range of complex topics, from econometrics and policy papers to data-centric reports.

  • Central Bank experience. As a former senior economist, I understand the nuance and rigour required for high-level institutional work. I've spent years writing and communicating the kind of research I now illustrate.

  • Published work. I take a collaborative approach to every project; my illustrations span many disciplines and include work published by Routledge and Palgrave Macmillan.

And I have a very unusual background for an illustrator, one that sits right between research and design.
